Lyrics

1. Unglued

I'm in the same frame of mind that I was,
head full of steam, empty-hearted
And for myself it's such a real good mess.
And for myself I've got more to confess

I could be crazy. I could be over the line,
but I've been taken, by surprise
by a love that loved me and then just let me be Unglued.

Soon you'll forget me, you'll fall fast asleep,
the grubby fingers underneath your feet.
Disdain is it's own disguise,
it's the tragic end to and ordinary life

I could be crazy. I could be over the line,
but I've been taken, by surprise
by a love that loved me and then just let me be Unglued.

Now I'm doing fine and I'm not coming down,
I'm on my best behavior and that's some shaky ground…
I could be crazy. I could be over the line,
but I've been taken, by surprise
by a love that loved me and then just let me be Unglued.

Right- I know you are.
And picture perfect that's just for fools like me.
We choose to believe.
And if your dreams are not realized, you are awake.
Teach me too.

And if your dreams do not realize
that you are awake, teach me too.
Unglued not now,
unglued not now, unglued not now
(chorus) But I can take it..

It's not the good life, but it's mine.
It's not the big time but it's mine.
It's such a big mistake, but it's mine.
Unglued not now, unglued not
now, unglued not now

2. Who's Shoes are on the Wire

It’s really simple, we can clean this whole mess up,
get some more police in here and get the righ man on the job.
We’ll make a killing, well we’ll gut out that building,
and sell if off as condos in the spring.

Who’s shoes are on the wire? Who is barefoot tonight?
Down the street where yuppies sleep and artists figure life,
who’s shoes are on the wire?

Once and a while life will tap you on the shoulder
- "Say can you spare me anything at all?"
I would give you my last dime but,
my last dime won’t help tomorow . And I need my money for the train.

I believe that hope , it grows,
on a human vine you know and it’s hanging there just inside my reach.
The trick is not to let it blind me,
to the people right beside me,
reaching out for the very same.

There it hangs a whisper.
It’s a whisper of wisdom and a morsel, a morsel of pain.
And there went a ghost of a smile
on a frightened trembling child
who left all his chances in the rain.

7. Drink it Down

Birds and people heading south
They've got it in their blood
they've got to find a way out
you've got questions and it's poison
to your piece of mind
a deaf ear to the wind
and you can't see, even when you find

And when that black day takes a hold of you
just feel for the cracks and let yourself spill through
nowhere is somewhere, can you stand yourself alone?
if you can stand yourself...stand next to anyone

birds and people heading south
a fist full of feathers and a bad taste in your mouth
does your plate look empty?
or you just can't feed yourself tonight
cause you're still flat spinning,
after swallowing so much pride

And when that black day takes a hold of you
just feel for the cracks and let yourself spill through
nowhere is somewhere, can you stand yourself alone?

Birds and people heading south,
you'd give your soul for the search
and keep your eyes blacked out
my bliss is waiting
in a capsule on the back of my tongue
barefooting through the desert
for a drop of something to drink it down

9. My Kind of Freak

I'm sinking in the slowness
of these moments in my head.
And I'm wading through the whispers
drawn like curtains
Drawn and quartered, I'm going to bed.
Testing mountains and telling tales.

I like to set them spinning.
I'd like to pull you in
and roll around in all the wonder
like fall leaves when we were kids.
Testing mountains and telling tales.

And all the songs that have come and gone
like razors on my skin, cold
then warm with blood.
Streaming red with life,
and this fortune is fading
Testing mountains and telling tales.

This fortune is fading, like sins and violins.
Played like favors, we're played like fools.
Testing mountains and telling tales.

And no one's gonna to take me back.
No one's gonna take me on.
No one's gonna say it's real, real good.
It's really good.

Oh captain, my captain, you're my kind of freak
head in the clouds. Are you leaving town again?
Did this shit get you now too deep?

(outro) My kind of freak,
head in the sand you've gone too deep
and I haven't had one good night's sleep.
Haven't had one good night's sleep.

My kind of freak,
head in the clouds you've gone too deep
and I haven't had one good night's sleep.
Haven't had one good night's sleep.
